Empire is global and it will need to be addressed globally. That being said, Greece is in a position now where it will be doing serious economic damage to all European Union countries. The response to this from the neo-liberal EU and International Monetary Fund is to place the burden on the workers. This draws very clear battle lines, and the working class in Greece seem to understand their position and are fighting to change it.
Will workers in the rest of Europe express solidarity with the social unrest in Greece?
The most affected EU countries are Spain, Portugal, Ireland, and Italy. What role will the workers of these countries play?
It's hard to tell what the future holds, but it seems very possible for this economic crisis in Greece to spark a much broader social unrest in all of the EU. The fact the Greece is the epi-center, of the crisis and the resistance, is of particular importance to anarchists and contains a potential to spread anarchist ideas in a serious way.
Could this be the downfall of the EU?
If the EU falls, that could be the beginning of a global revolution.
The role for revolutionaries in the US remains the same: we are charged with the task of dismantling empire at its heart.
