I thought the initial effect might be the same as everywhere, it was nothing more than a short-lived fillip for the movement. It was greeted with a delight as a result of the worldwide confusion of the Revolution as being if not anarchist, then at least consistent with anarchist goals. Maybe it is possible to assign 1919 may 4th movement to the effects of the October Revolution?
However, the growth of Leninism and the establishment of Communist parties were to have a devastating effect on the movement. The Chinese Communist Party controlled and dominated the revolutionary activity, this along with weak organisational abilities of anarchists were to play a fatal role in its destiny in China. As By 1920 the movement entered a decline from which it would not recover, becoming essentially politically irrelevant.
However, one needs to consider the complexity of Chinese anarchism and the very fact that the revolution brought an understanding of marxism. Many Communists were anarchists before 1920s in China, many even attributed this to Mao.
This I thought made the topic complicated, yet very interesting.
